Toni, the owner, is doing us a good deal.  Everyone will get 3 drinks (prosecco, wine, beer or soft) and there will be canapes and sharing plates.  It will be a great chance to catch up with old friends, meet new people, and celebrate W4W’s year.   We will have name badges and a Christmas icebreaker so that if you are new, you’ll find it easy to talk to people.

Tickets are £30 a head. We will be additionally subsidising each of you by £5 from W4W funds.  Stripe link https://buy.stripe.com/3csaF77wq4JI1uE28i

Found a new favourite thing to do tonight! Thank you Zena & Rose for introducing me to wood block printing. I found it so relaxing and mindful. I loved thinking about colours and design and I am very happy with my lovely new tea towel. A perfect way to spend a rainy Wednesday.

I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. The explanation was clear, guidance and support appreciated and loved the fact I went away with a beautiful handmade product! Thank you.

Preethi Nair reading from her book 'Unravelling'

On Tuesday 12th November, author Preethi Nair will be hosting an evening reading extracts from her new book 'Unravelling’.

Preethi Nair worked as a management consultant but gave it up to follow her dream and write her first book, Gypsy Masala. Having been rejected by a number of publishers, she set up her own publishing company and PR agency to publish and promote the book. Working under the alias of Pru Menon, Preethi managed to gain substantial coverage and after two years of a roller coaster journey, she managed to sign a three-book deal with HarperCollins. She won the Asian Woman of Achievement award for her endeavours and “Pru” was also short listed as Publicist of the Year for the PPC awards.

About ‘Unravelling’:

Bhanu seems to have it all—a beautiful home, a loving husband, and a perfect family. But her seemingly flawless life is built on secrets and buried dreams. On the eve of her fortieth wedding anniversary, a chance encounter with Deep, her first love, shatters her carefully crafted world. Forced to confront the choices of her past, Bhanu faces a heart-wrenching decision: risk everything for a second chance at love or find freedom in the truth. A compelling story of love, loss, and the courage to change one’s destiny.

The book will be available to purchase at a discount.

August Summer Picnic, Acton Green

Time and Date Wednesday 14th, from 6pm until it gets dark.

Location let's meet at the circular bench on Acton Green between the church (Christ Church) and the children's playground. Stand outside the Duke of Sussex (W4 5LF) looking at the green, cross the road and take the path which goes diagonally to your left, then you'll find it. What3Words (if that helps you) is elbow.analogy.vets

If you can't find us text me on 07947 466789

What to bring Food for yourself and/or to share. Picnic blanket. Soft drinks. I'll have a few bottles of white wine.

Is there a loo? There is a public toilet opposite the Duke of Sussex. It seems to take only 20p pieces, so you might want to bring one. Failing that, we can sneak into the pub!

What if it rains? I'll make a judgement by 4pm and message everyone on here if I decide to cancel. If it starts to rain while we are there we can always just go to the pub.

Notting Hill Walk

Notting Hill Walk

Led John Steel, a Blue Badge Guide from Tour de Force London.

A fascinating walking tour of Notting Hill. An area of London with a rich history of famous residents and colourful architecture with art deco cinemas. Victorian shops and markets offer an eclectic mix of vintage and fashion designers, plus the largest antique street market in the UK. The food scene is exquisite and inventive, from the "best smelling food shop in London" to a sushi pub, with other great bars and restaurants. The music studios in the area have produced and recorded some of the greatest artists and songs ever made. Also, classic Hollywood movies were shot on the streets. The ethnic diversity has a long history which brought about one of the world's largest street festivals. There is a lot to see in Notting Hill!

Meeting point (6pm):  Notting Hill Gate Station.

Once you are through the barriers you take a right turn and then go up the stairs on your left and out onto the street. Meet at street level.

Talk by Andy Slaughter MP

Andy is a barrister and has been Hammersmith & Fulham’s MP for 19 years and is always reelected with a large majority because he is widely recognised as one of the most hardworking MPs in the country.  Because of boundary changes Andy will be the Labour MP candidate for the new Hammersmith & Chiswick seat. This retains Hammersmith and most of Shepherds Bush from his existing seat, but will now include the wards of Chiswick Riverside, Chiswick Gunnersbury and Chiswick Homefields.

This evening will take place in room2, 10 Windmill Rd, Chiswick, W4 1SD, the world’s first environmentally friendly hotel which was founded by two brothers from Hammersmith in 2015.  If you have not been there then this is your chance for a recce.
